As we stand on the threshold of a new year, we're invited to embrace a profound spiritual truth from Isaiah 43:18-19: God is doing something new, and He's calling us to stop dwelling in the past. This message challenges us to release our grip on former failures, sins, and disappointments that keep us trapped in spiritual paralysis. The enemy wants us fishing in the 'no fishing' pond of our past mistakes, constantly reminding us of who we were rather than who God is making us to be. But Scripture reveals that God is making streams in the wasteland and rivers in the desert—bringing life where there was death, hope where there was barrenness. When we pair this with Proverbs 16:1-9, we discover that while we make plans, God establishes them when we commit our ways to Him. The key isn't abandoning planning or goal-setting, but aligning our desires with God's purposes through seeking Him first. Better is a little with righteousness than great gain without it. As we move forward, we're reminded that our job isn't to save people—that's God's work. Our calling is simpler yet profound: to love, to share the good news, to be present, and to show that God makes a difference. Whether we're planting seeds, watering them, or harvesting, each role matters in God's tapestry. This new year can be transformative if we commit to putting on the armor of God daily, standing on His foundation rather than in our problems, and trusting Him with anticipation for what He will accomplish through us.
